Pivigo Opens its First International Office in Berlin

European Expansion Part of Our Rapid Growth Strategy

We’re excited to announce that Pivigo, the UK’s leading data science hub, has opened its Berlin office. The offices, our first outside the UK, are located in Charlottenburg and will be supported by former CEO of Axel Springer, Russia, international business strategist and Pivigo shareholder Regina von Flemming.

Now in our fifth year, we have enjoyed close to 100 per cent year on year growth and we are now accelerating our mission to help organisations of all sizes innovate through data science by connecting them with its unique community of data scientists.

The expansion comes after recent funding from a group of private and VC investors, keen to leverage our unique position in the data science field as it builds the world’s largest community of freelance data scientists and a hub for all aspiring data scientists to learn, develop their skills and find jobs. We were also driven to set up an office outside the UK in order to strengthen our post-Brexit position.

Pivigo CEO Dr Kim Nilsson says, ”This is an incredibly exciting time for Pivigo as we continue to enhance and grow our business. Pivigo’s expansion to Berlin is the culmination of an exciting period of sustained growth, based on our work enabling organisations to make the most of their data assets.”

Berlin was the destination for the company’s first overseas office owing to the city’s flourishing start-up scene and skilled workforce. Nilsson says, “As a start-up founder, I love Berlin’s creative energy and highly skilled and entrepreneurial workforce. With our office in Berlin, we are also better placed to ensure the continued success of our business post-Brexit”

Regina Von Flemming said, “I am delighted to be joining Pivigo as a Senior Advisor to its European operations. There are tremendous opportunities for Pivigo as it continues to enable organisations of all sizes to innovate through data science by connecting them with the growing Pivigo community of data scientists.”

Pivigo takes analytical PhDs or MScs and accelerates their transition to highly skilled data scientists through a five-week intensive Science to Data Science (S2DS) course. Participants solve live commercial data science problems from a range of organisations from large multi-national corporates to SMEs, start-ups and charities. The programme’s commercial partners include KPMG, Marks & Spencer, Royal Mail, British Gas and Barclays.

By the end of 2018 the S2DS alumni network will be 550 strong. We deploy this network to enable organisations of all sizes, and in all sectors, access to this talent both for short, defined data science projects and to help scale-up their data science efforts, providing a fast, flexible and cost-effective way of delivering projects to completion.
